why does 407fixed gear post a million updates about events outside of.....407, but when it comes to posting about a bike event in 407 then it's a problem.
i have nothing against the frequent updates about events going on, but please also update the blog on events that you don't necessarily like (or plan on attending), but that are happening in 407 and are bike related.
thanks and keep up the good work! i'm glad such a site exists for orlando.

alleycat in 407 put on by spokes council.

Did you try emailing anyone of the contributors? If not, how are we supposed to know about some of these local events? What are we mind readers?
Seriously....
i'm criticizing 407 and my experience with it in the past. with events that i asked 407 peeps to post about, it hasn't always been difficult but usually frustrating. things that could be improved:
1) clear contact button. 'cause right now, gus is the only active member with an email on profile, but why do i even have to click on his profile. there should be a contact 407fixedgear link-up on the homepage.
2) if someone asked 407fixedgear to post an event. they should get a yes this is fitting and we will update the site shortly or no this is not related to bikes or 407. instead of having to wait and check 407 numerous times to see if said event was posted.
3) with events that are happening in 407. i would like to see a post early on (after you hear about an event of course) and a post a day before the event.

my comment wasn't directed at this upcoming alleycat. i added the alleycat because it came to mind, hence the break. sorry for the confusion.
mooj I think you need to realize a few things:
- for starters, this blog does not solely exist to cater to your marketing/promotion strategy for your events. If you are simply relying on us to get the word out for your event, then you need to seriously rethink the way you promote your events...
- Contact button: Besides being able to access twitter feeds of 4 contributors, I'm willing to wager that you have the means to contact us via other mediums. I know for a fact you have friended most of us on face-book not to mention you have personal relationships with quite a few of us. If communication via email is such an issue, why did you not try other ways of contacting us?
- no one here is paid to be a contributor nor do you pay a fee to get your event information posted. Therefore your expectations of a quick turnaround is just simply unrealistic. Have you ever thought some of us are busy with our lives / jobs? But yet here you are insinuating that we are purposely not promoting you and other peoples events. Think about it, you are in essence griping about free advertising not being posted quick enough. That's like complaining about a free back rub...
Myself and many others are always willing to help out event organizers in order to spread the word to the cycling community. We are not however beholden to post anyones information; especially if they take a conspiratorial and pissy tone with us.
Clear enough?
gus, you never fail to take everything in a negative light. stop being defensive. i just listed my suggestions.
-why did you not try other ways of contacting us?
i did.
-you're not paid to do this?
then how do you afford your fancy bikes :>
i <3 407fixedgear.
defensive? not really. It was more about making a point at your expense...
-why did you not try other ways of contacting us?
- i did.
I haven't heard from you since the Bike Porn thing.
-you're not paid to do this?
-then how do you afford your fancy bikes :>
Really? Tell me this is sarcasm...
Feel free to email me if you want to continue this.
