Video from the incident at CM
So here’s the video of the incident at CM this month. Doesn’t show the driver weaving in and out of the mass as many of the eyewitness reports have stated. It pretty much just consists of the driver calling the police as he gets grilled by some of the riders as they ask him for an explanation of his actions. From what I’ve heard, he decided to call the police because participants of the ride stood up to him. Before that happened, it appears he was all too willing to take the law in to his own hands. Guess he had second thoughts once he got out of the car... :)
So the question begs to be asked, what started all of this? Unfortunately, no one seems to know. I‘ve heard everything from the guy becoming hostile because he was stuck behind the mass to reports of some riders being confrontational with various motorists; this guy included. Perhaps it was both? I mean, what made him want to target JJ and not anyone else? Not trying to shift the blame but seriously, what happened? From everything I've heard, this guy had it in for JJ in a bad way...
There seems to have been a myriad of reasons that contributed to a chaotic ride this month and the lame thing is that they are all complaints we have heard before. It runs the gamut from some riders riding too fast or too slow causing gaps in the mass to not enough corkers blocking intersections to bad attitudes from both cyclists and motorists. It seems like every CM I do attend, I either have to let the front of the mass know to slow down or cork just about every intersection because some can’t be bothered to help. Unless all of you that participate get onboard with what the aims of this ride are, these kinds of incidents will only continue to happen.
Feel free to post any thoughts you may have in the comments section. CM hater comments are welcomed as well...

Very important...
A beloved friend of mine as well as yours was seriously injured on saturday afternoon. Kyle Markel(from kyles bike shop) was doing the 25 foot drop at santos for a freeride comp and fell somehow. He wasnt moving and was air lifted to shans memorial hospital in gainesville. From what I'm being told he is still in ICU and has suffered 4 broken ribs, a torn spleen, a mild concussion as well as various bruises and abrasions. According to doctors, they are hoping his spleen heals without having to be removed.
Kyle has always been one of the greatest friends to me as well as others. He is THAT guy who will take his shirt off his back for anyone in need. He cares deeply about our cycling community and has always been there to support not only our community as a whole, but everyone individually as well. Im sure his wife, Christy, and himself are overwhelmed with calls and such right now but when you do get the chance, please show how much you care. He needs it, and as someone who recently put down due to a bike, I understand how much it can mean to a person. Ill keep you guys posted on him.
also, there is a video to show you how serious this is.
heal up quick Kyle!

Brian posted this:
me and my girlfriends bikes were stolen sometime early this morning from my well enclosed porch near the intersection of SR 436 and Curry Ford Road.

Mine: 2006 Olive Green Giant Bowery, White Deep Vs, Sugino Messenger Crankset, Track Drops with Orange Grips, White Stickers (66Fixed, Ace.Metric, WESC), Carbon Fiber looking Top Tube pad.
This is his bike:

But now with white deepvs. Most of you know my bike already.

Please guys, lock up your bike...Unfortunately its gotten to the point where no where in orlando is safe to just leave your bike ANYWHERE. Please post this where ever you can to get their bikes back. Just like most of us, this is Brians only transpo
Cheers,
Furoche!
EDIT 3.16.09 by tbm el gato pescado
BTW, if the thief does happen to read this blog, do yourself a favor and give the bikes back. Just leave an anonymous post on here and tell us where you left them so Brian can go grab'em. Keep in mind, this is a close knit community and when you steal from one of us, you steal from us all . Consider this a "get out of jail free card" because otherwise, it's open season on you (especially if you are riding it around town). Trust me, we all know what Badlucks bike looks like...

Watch out! Word on the street is Ace Metric is taking pre-orders on these bad boys. Interested parties should stop by and talk with Blackshaw for full details...
Spam alert!

The time has come to finally simplify to one bike so I'm letting this guy go. This bike has been my workday commuter for the past year and was my main ride for a long time. It's been through a lot of alley cats with me and honestly, I'm a bit sad to see it go. It's in need of a good home and a loving rider, perhaps you can help...
So what do you get? The frame is an '86 Centurion made in Japan, Tange 2 steel tubing with the original fork. It also has polished silver deep v's with formula hubs, Sugino cranks, Nitto bar and stem, mks toe clips with Soma Double Straps and a few other little niceties. Price is super reasonable, interested parties hit me up email stylee....
Edit 3.9.09
SOLD! Congrats to Danny, enjoy the bike! :)

This is old news for a few of us...

But in case you didn't know, Pete Young is now sponsored by Profile! From the Profile Fixed site:
Pete is pretty much the fastest guy in Florida on a fixed gear. I think he won or was top three at pretty much every alley cat last year, and I know he was the overall series champion, winning a set of Profile Hubs for his efforts, which I then made superflous by offering him even more free stuff. He's one of those guys who's a natural talent, he can win the alley cat and turn around and win the trick competition afterwards. He also podiumed at the Florida State Cyclocross race on a borrowed single speed cross bike. And, he's a sweet dude. And he sent in a news update before I even got around to announcing that he was on the team. Good stuff, there.
Congratulations once again for a truly deserved sponsorship and keep repping the sunshine state as hard you do!
Fixed Fight 3 update...

More info is coming out, this is looking to be a pretty massive race. 407 needs to posse up for it, lets get a carpool thread going on IBOT soon...
From the flfixed thread:
