Very important...

A beloved friend of mine as well as yours was seriously injured on saturday afternoon. Kyle Markel(from kyles bike shop) was doing the 25 foot drop at santos for a freeride comp and fell somehow. He wasnt moving and was air lifted to shans memorial hospital in gainesville. From what I'm being told he is still in ICU and has suffered 4 broken ribs, a torn spleen, a mild concussion as well as various bruises and abrasions. According to doctors, they are hoping his spleen heals without having to be removed.

Kyle has always been one of the greatest friends to me as well as others. He is THAT guy who will take his shirt off his back for anyone in need. He cares deeply about our cycling community and has always been there to support not only our community as a whole, but everyone individually as well. Im sure his wife, Christy, and himself are overwhelmed with calls and such right now but when you do get the chance, please show how much you care. He needs it, and as someone who recently put down due to a bike, I understand how much it can mean to a person. Ill keep you guys posted on him.

also, there is a video to show you how serious this is.

heal up quick Kyle!

Awesome rider and a great bike shop owner. The first urban ride I did with his crew was amazing. I really hope Kyle keeps the spleen and heals up quick.

My brother is one tough dude, but watching this makes chills run up my spine. I know he'll make it and come back strong. He always does!! As a kid he would come home with stick through his arm (ask 'im, I think he still has the biohazard bag with the remains in it) and be like, "I'm fine, man!"

good news, Kyle's going home tommorrow. Spleen's doing better, ribs cracked and pretty banged up. Kyle swears protective wear helped prevent more serious injury. Thanks! - kyles family

Thank you so much for keeping us informed on his condition. Let him know we all wish him a speedy recovery and can't wait to see him back in his shop!

I'm really glad to know he's doing better. Stopped into Kyle's yesterday for a bike tune up but heard about it over at Retro City from Dan.
