one of my friends back in colorado was putting zip ties on his tires to make them more ice-friendly. while cutting off the excess, he accidentally shanked himself in the leg. his leg got infected and almost had to be amputated. no shit. thank the good lord for year-round icelessness.
Wow that would have been a shitty ending! Good thing he caught in time. Being a transplanted Northerner myself, I sure as hell don't miss the cold weather, icy roads nor shoveling snow...
Winter / early spring here are amazing weather-wise. Makes up for the hot ass summers in so many ways...
but the thing is it's not even that hot in the summer. when i lived in Denver it was cold ass winters or hot ass summers. It was the same way when i visited dc for the summer, really really hot.

i do have to admit, though, that riding a bike with zip-tied snow tires is kinda fun.. worth the risk of a possible shanking.
I'm from B-more and while the summers do get hot in Maryland, they don't hold a candle to Florida in August. The humidity is oppressive!
That said, I've been to California / Nevada in the summer and it's a dry broil as opposed to a humid bake... :)
Living in Phoenix this summer was unreal. I tried riding during the day once in August. I rode 4 miles and then had to find shade.
Phoenix's closest relative as far as temperature is concerned is Baghdad. Unreal.
