Now on to Seattle way...

So we may head out to Howard if the rain holds out. The weather lady this morning made it seem like a hurricane was headed this way and I've yet still to see a drop hit the ground. It would have been a nice ride in to work too..

WTF?!

So on the same day Zach Foruche gets Defamed and pops his hero Jason Lee in the nose total furoche style, the Orlando legend ends up getting carved up like the joker by some douche bag with a napoleon complex and a set of ginsu knives. Read the full story here...

Stay up Zach even though you are rolling all Peter Petrelli style these days! The rest of you, please be careful out there...

BTW, if you didn't know about the Trick Track Forums, stop by and check it out. Probably one of the nicest online communities I've encountered in a long while. Good info and super nice members...

quickly becoming our poison of choice...

Tastes just as good straight from a flask as it does mixed with soda and even coffee. I blame Julius for getting us started on this liquid crack... :)

What hides in the Shadow?

Check out this prototype Shadow Conspiracy is putting out. First things first, will it bar spin a 700? Hell yeah. The prototype pictured currently has 700x28cc tires on it and just tips the bottom of the down tube. You can still spin it with the current set up, but you could really spin it with a set of 700x23s on the front. The benefit to having the 28cc tires is that you could jump way bigger stuff without getting a pitch flat. The fork will most likely be updated for the production model to go from a 30mm rake to a 28mm rake. This gives the bike a few more benefits. With the new fork you could spin the 28cc tire perfectly, your bar spins will be a little faster, the bike will be more nimble, and last but not least the bike will look better without that huge gap between the down tube and the front tire.

Another modification will be made to the drop outs. Right now they are kind of really short giving little room for chain and ratio adjustment. The welds on the bike look very nice and the chrome-moly tubing gives it a real stiff feel. The kind of difference you can feel between a Soma Rush and a Bianchi Pista. The tubing is very simple nice and small. The steer tubes are from their bmx bikes which is the only non-classic looking part of the tubing. That and the lack of lugs. The frame will only be available in one color right now but looks pretty sweet in person. The paint job on it is actually a special dip job. Not sure exactly what kind of dip job, but I’m pretty sure some kind of electrical bonding thing.

Overall the set up is pretty nice. Wheelies are easy, but when are they really that hard? Certain parts are not super fancy in order to keep the cost around $650 (complete). However, these are probably the first parts that you would swap out in your search to pimp your ride. The bike should be out by spring 2009. So keep your eyes peeled.

OR

you can get a sneak preview tomorrow at the Howard Middle bike polo/ trick night. Not 100% that Ronnie can make it, but chances are pretty good. Polo starts at 7:00pm. Be there or be yourself with a coefficient of 2 (that’s squared bitches!)

image leeched from trackosaurus rex

So I was talking to a few folks this weekend about these new Sugino cogs and it seemed like 90% of those I talked to hadn't heard anything about them. In the interest of spreading the love (and saving myself some time from emailing you lazy fools the link), I've posted a picture of these bad boys along with the link to the trackosaurus rex post. IMO this product is pretty damn slick not to mention useful but hey, I'm no industrial design genius. Only time and the market will tell how well this design holds up...

Stats & the route from last night....

Some miscommunication happened during the ride so we ended up taking the old route as opposed to the route we took last week. As expected we hit some gnarliness on Orange Ave in Winter Park (construction in the area) but overall it was pretty uneventful. Awesome to see a solid representation of women out last night, lets keep that momentum going ladies!

The stats from my computer last night:

Avg speed: 19.8 mph (dropped to 19.2 once we hit the cool down stretch)
Max speed: 35.7 mph (hit on the Aloma "S" Curve)
Total Distance: 11.54 miles

Just in case some of you want to chant "pic or stfu" on the max speed:

Big party being planned for this months Hallows Eve Critical Mass ride. Nick, along with the good people at Stardust and Bold Hype are organizing a shindig to celebrate the holiday. From what I've been told it's a full on parking lot party complete with bands, apple bobbing, BBQ, Beer, Foot down contests and all sorts of other shenanigans. Everyone riding is encouraged to dress up and even if you can't make the CM ride, people are still encouraged to show up as it will be running late...

This is going to be a hectic weekend! CM, Halloween After Ride Party and then the Ace Metric / 407 Fixed Gear Anniversary shindig on Nov 1st! Keep it locked for more info as it becomes available...
