after easter race photosets....

Decided to condense all the photo sets in to one post. Click on the image to go straight to the photo set. If you have any you want to share, hit us up with the link and we'll post it here...

BTW, if anyone has some pictures of fat lip at the end point, hit me up..... ;)

ez!

damn rabbits......

So all in all it was a freaking tough but fun race. The fast route was all it was cracked up to be, especially in terms of endurance. We got to see quite a bit of the orlando metro area as the race encompassed a decent amount of the downtown and surrounding communities. I have to admit, I was not in the best physical condition for this longer race due to self inflicted behavior on my part and it showed. Also, I'm not a big fan of set course races as I tend to prefer the check point / make your own route format but this was a really cool twist on a race and overall it went smooth. Except for a few turns which in my opinion needed to be better marked (more on that later), overall it was very well done and Michelle and I had a blast running it.

Some of my "special moments" from the race yesterday:

- Rolling up Lakemont Ave with the pack. It was pretty cool seeing that many riders running that bunched up. Looked the the Tour De France for a hot minute...

- The S curve on Aloma Drive. It never gets old hauling ass down that hill..

- Riding through College Park. I never ride out there that often so this was a welcome treat. The only thing that kind of sucked about it was missing the turn from edgewater to Lakeview St that took us on to the north end of orange ave. I never saw a sign anywhere around there so I kept straight on edgewater. Lucky for me the guy behind me knew we had to turn there and shouted at me as I just passed the turn. I know of a bunch of other people that missed this turn as well. This was the first turn I felt that should have been labeled better.

- Riding down orange ave through downtown. Always lots of fun playing in traffic like this. Sort of a tangent here but one thing I noticed yesterday was how chill most drivers where for some odd reason. I only had one guy yell at me yesterday and this was on orange and robinson. We blew the light and I guess we held him back 20 seconds from making his way to wrestlemania. Said something about wanting to drop kick us or something to that effect. Just a byproduct of the media he consumes I guess...

- Puking! This is a highlight for me as this is the first time anything like this has ever happened to me in a race. As I mentioned earlier, I had done some partying earlier in the week so my physical stamina was not the best. Lots of drinking and cig smoking caught up with me. Now fast forward to half way through the race and I'm rolling down orange past michigan and I feel a bubbling sensation in my stomach and my mouth gets all watery. I looked behind me and noticed the guy behind me was a good bit behind me so I spit to clear my mouth. All a sudden my eyes start jittering and up comes a small bit of vomit. I spit it out, started skidding to slow down, make a hard right in to a bank parking lot, jump off my bike and in to some bushes and let it all go! I finished, washed my mouth out with the water I had with me and look up to see some racers ride by. Spit out the water, collected myself then jumped on my bike and I'm on my way... Damn I love these races!

- Missing the turn at Gatlin. This sucked huge because myself and the peeps that I was riding with at the moment ended up riding another 3 miles down orange to the intersection of oak ridge and orange ave. There was no sign on gatlin to turn and speaking with one of the rabbits afterwards, the guys working the gas station checkpoint where supposed to tell us to turn on gatlin. We never heard anything like that and this pretty much took us out of the race at that point. Lets just say that riding back up orange ave to gatlin, against the wind was the biggest mental challenge I had during the race. Really sucked the momentum out of me at that point...

- Jared telling me about his wreck with Amanda. Dude looked like he went a few rounds with Ali. I'm calling you Fat-Lip from now on s0n! :)

- Fixed Gear Trickery in the Beta parking lot. Pete and Corey are always raising the bar in this area.

Again, I had a lot of fun on this one. Dunno if I'm making G-ville but Fixed Fight 2 is definitely getting hit. Once again, great job Metha, Nick and everyone who helped with organizing the race. Big shout out to Patrick and the Beta crew for the brews at the end point. Looking forward to some of the other things you guys have in store later on in the year.

The White Rabbits had to race a pre-race tryout to get their positions as Rabbits. They also helped a TON in the planning of the race and routes. So I promised them the last top ten positions for the FFGPS. I ran this by Michael and Taylor and they said it was cool. However, it is ultimately up to the racers. I talked to the rabbits and they are totally cool and will understand if you have any issues with them receiving points for this race. They do not want to give up there positions, but are willing to in order to avoid any conflicts. So, if you have any issues please speak up.

These guys below ended up getting mixed up with the fun ride and showed up way early. I think they did about half of the entire route. Nice try guys.

?1? Ben Wright Orlando
?2? David Castrillo Ft. Lauderdale
?3? Correy Jordan St. Pete

And I don’t know if these guys ever made it to the finish and if they did they never checked in.

ATTENTION Change of Location!!!

Tonight's new location for the Gold Sprints will be at the normal Trick Night Spot.
On the NE corner of E. Livingston St. and Bumby. We will be there at 9:00PM.
There might be some cars there because of the Florida Film Festival, so we have two alternate locations.

The first alternate will be over at Beta which is on E. Robinson St. Between Bumby Ave and N. Graham Ave.

The other location will be on the roof of the parking garage on Livingston St. and Rosaline Ave. (Be stealthy when you enter. Do not draw in any attention!)

If you have any questions please call me at (407)738-5050. Sorry about the confusion.

Looks like we're getting rained out again....

Rain is headed this way but I'm still thinking about hitting the landmark garage downtown tonight.. Hit me up on the TBM hotline if you're down to get up....

Looking for a frame & fork....

I'm starting to get a new build going and need a frame /fork set in order to get started. I was going to geek out and go with something Japanese but finding something I want and can afford at the moment is proving to be problematic. So I'm just going to go ahead and build it out then concentrate on a frame later on...

What I need: a frame & fork with measurements between 52-54. I'm looking for a smaller frame because the build is going to be for a trick oriented whip as opposed to a speedster. As I mentioned, I would prefer track drops but I am also willing to look at a road frame and run a conversion instead. If it comes with a bottom bracket and headset that's cool but I'm not really in need of anything else. As I mentioned, I'm gathering components right now so I don't really need a complete bike. This frame / fork is just going to be temporary so I'm not going to be super picky about it...

If you have anything or know of anyone with something that may fit what I am looking for, hit me up.

Sunday @ the Park pt 2

Once again we are going to meet up on Sunday @ Blue Jacket Park for some laps around the track. The plan is to finalize who the rabbits will be for the after easter race but even if you're not wanting to try out, come on out regardless. I know a few of us will be there riding a few laps and getting busy with a little trickery on the side. Think of it as an excuse to get together on a Sunday and riding for a bit. Meet up is @ 5pm @ the Glenridge Middle School Track (located next to Blue Jacket Park).

here's some video from last Sunday..

BMX Video Premier

Image Hosting by Picoodle.com

One of the guys from OutSpoken Bikes in Lake Mary is in this video. The peeps in this bike shop are totally rad. If anyone has any spare time on friday, let me know. I will probably be riding up there from my house. So we can do a pretty nice ride before the thing starts. I'm sure there is a thing or two that we can learn from these guys. and judging from the flyer it looks pretty exciting. They also sponsored the Florida Flurry race, so now it our time to support them.

chicagorlando.

the wind's supposed to die as the evening goes on. i'm riding for sure. if it's too window for the lot, i'll be at the landmark parking garage. that lot is like a cheese grater anyway. call me, fools.

Keep the dates open!

A couple of races for the month of April

---------------> race info taken from the thread on Florida Fixed

Okay, A few details...
The race will not be the typical format of checkpoint to checkpoint, finish them all then win. It is going to be a points-based race with a time limit. Get all the points you can in a certain amount of time and the one with the most points wins. Come early for the swap, there will be foods too. You can register any time during the swap too, to assuage any worries you might have regarding rules and what not, we'll answer all questions. You get your registration package as soon as you register, so for you out-of-towners if you get there early and sign up, you can go scout out all the check points before hand. If not there will be a great map.
Some sponsors have already confirmed, they are: Arena Bags (duh), Camp Cupboard designs, Recycled Bikes, Bikes and More (putting up cash), Surly, White Industries, and Velocity, with more TBA. Come on out!

--------------------------------------------------->

Then on April 19th

---------------> race info taken from the thread on Florida Fixed

SPECIAL “HELMET HEAD-START” OFFER:
Anyone wearing a cycling helmet during Fixed Fight 2 will receive a ten-second head-start advantage at the race.

FREE PIN AT REGISTARTION:
HorroH has produced 250 limited edition pins for Fixed Fight 2. These pins will be given to every registered person on race day. Don’t plan on racing? Remaining pins will be available to purchase for $1.00 each. Here’s a quick look at the pin…

VOLUNTEER REQUESTS:
I’m still looking for about 12 volunteers. Each person will receive a spokecard and limited edition pin. Volunteers will need to be available Friday April 18th to review your assigned checkpoint location (should take roughly 30mins). Then on race day, Saturday April 19th volunteers will be required to meet at the registration location by 130PM and be at their assigned checkpoints by 230PM. Time at checkpoint should be between 1hr and 1.5hrs. A vehicle to get you to your checkpoint in a timely manner is encouraged. Assurance that you’ll be able to meet these guidelines is much appreciated. Please whisper to me (your first/last name, city and cell number) if interested. Whisper questions here or email me at: Todd@HorroH.com

growing pains...

Saturday March 1st, 2008

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The organizers of Monster Track 2008 have decided, after careful consideration, to cancel this year’s main race.

This decision did not come easy and was debated at length. Our reasons are many but the overall factor was that the race has become unmanageable due to the large participation and our concern for the participant’s safety.

As many of you know, Monster Track started as a race held for a small, close group of NYC bike messengers. It has now become an overwhelmingly all-inclusive event. This, on its face, may seem like a positive direction for a race but in the context of a solely track bike alleycat it brings many problems. First and foremost, the safety of the racers is compromised. We believe that this is not a tenable position for race organizers.

Although the main race is canceled, please join us for Gold Sprints on Friday evening, Fixed Gear Competition (track stands, skids, footdown, freestyle, sprints, etc.) on Saturday and the Velo City Tour, at Kissena Velodrome on Sunday.

Schedule of Events:

Friday March 7, 8PM
Goldsprints at Third Ward
195 Morgan Ave. Brooklyn

Saturday March 8, 1PM
Fixed Gear Comp and injured messenger fundraiser at Rocky’s
South 5th St. at Kent Ave. Brooklyn

Sunday March 9, 12PM
Velo City Track Competition at Kissena Velodrome
Booth Memorial Ave near Kissena Blvd. Queens

wonder if this has anything to do with what happened in chicago?

just cause i'm a geek and some people cried rumor:

so here's the official report on the subject of failed vivalos: http://keirin.jp/pc/dfw/portal/guest/news/index_news/index_news20071017_01.html
the same entity re-applied for NJS certification under the name Ocean

and i guess the hyperlink didn't work on that last post, so here'e the url for anyone who wants to try to navigate the japanese to find the video: http://www.shizuoka38.jp/imc_38/real/20070811/38_index.html

this is kinda old news but whatev.

Good luck to those making it out G-ville today!

Unfortunately myself and some of the 407 fixedgear crew won't be making it out there today for a variety of reasons. I hear Metha is still going as well as Shaka and some other peeps. Good luck, ride hard and above all have fun out there!

Shablack and I are meeting up later on this afternoon to do a little riding downtown.. No crazy distance shit, just riding around and hitting up some garages / parking lots for a little trickery. We are also a go for trick night tonight for those of you that are not making it to Gville for the race. Same time, same place as always. Holler at us in the comments section if you want to meet up...
