The final verdict on the Election Day Bike Ride.
From Concept to Execution we think we have finally nailed this down. As news kept rolling in about early voting and forecasts of long lines and glitches with polling places we felt that a bike ride gathering at 5PM could potentially inhibit people from voting. Basically we hated to think that by the time you got to your polling place you might be stuck in a 2 or 3 hour long line. Since most people can only vote after 5PM on Nov 4th, they will be rushing from work and fueling long lines. So we are encouraging people to keep voting early. That, and the fact that there were literally 25 polling stations just inside the small radius selected for the bike ride- to try and split everyone up in groups and route them separately would have made for a big fat mess. So we have decided on a very simple solution. The ride will still be happening and the spirit of the event remains intact.
We are encouraging everyone to continue to vote early, and whenever it is convenient for you to get it done on or before the 4th. A ride is scheduled for 5PM on Nov 4th and it is basically a kind of We voted, and feel good about it kind of thing. Everyone is going to meet at Constitution Green on Summerlin Ave. and South St., and ride from there on a route that will take you around most of the downtown polling stations. A tour of the playing field if you will. If you have to work on the 4th, and were planning to vote after 5PM, then still show up, and by all means hang out and then leave from the meeting place to go to your respective polling station-- and when you're all done exercising your right to vote, come and join the ride, we will be ending the ride and celebrating at Stardust Coffee.
Any Questions?
* Anyone can ride that has voted, is planning to vote, or wanted to vote but couldn't because you are a criminal :)
* This is not candidate specific! I repeat there is no party affiliation here. This is just a "we got our asses out and voted this election ride" the message is that you all showed up this year.
* This is not a race, it is a ride, anyone with a bike is welcome to ride.
