What hides in the Shadow?

Check out this prototype Shadow Conspiracy is putting out. First things first, will it bar spin a 700? Hell yeah. The prototype pictured currently has 700x28cc tires on it and just tips the bottom of the down tube. You can still spin it with the current set up, but you could really spin it with a set of 700x23s on the front. The benefit to having the 28cc tires is that you could jump way bigger stuff without getting a pitch flat. The fork will most likely be updated for the production model to go from a 30mm rake to a 28mm rake. This gives the bike a few more benefits. With the new fork you could spin the 28cc tire perfectly, your bar spins will be a little faster, the bike will be more nimble, and last but not least the bike will look better without that huge gap between the down tube and the front tire.

Another modification will be made to the drop outs. Right now they are kind of really short giving little room for chain and ratio adjustment. The welds on the bike look very nice and the chrome-moly tubing gives it a real stiff feel. The kind of difference you can feel between a Soma Rush and a Bianchi Pista. The tubing is very simple nice and small. The steer tubes are from their bmx bikes which is the only non-classic looking part of the tubing. That and the lack of lugs. The frame will only be available in one color right now but looks pretty sweet in person. The paint job on it is actually a special dip job. Not sure exactly what kind of dip job, but I’m pretty sure some kind of electrical bonding thing.

Overall the set up is pretty nice. Wheelies are easy, but when are they really that hard? Certain parts are not super fancy in order to keep the cost around $650 (complete). However, these are probably the first parts that you would swap out in your search to pimp your ride. The bike should be out by spring 2009. So keep your eyes peeled.

OR

you can get a sneak preview tomorrow at the Howard Middle bike polo/ trick night. Not 100% that Ronnie can make it, but chances are pretty good. Polo starts at 7:00pm. Be there or be yourself with a coefficient of 2 (that’s squared bitches!)

Can we get a geometry sheet? Plz? Kthx.

maybe after we get the final draft down.

btw I'm not digging the new design.

hey mooj, elaborate on what you don't like. This is a prototype and they are open to feedback on it...

So the frame pictured isn't the final frame?

It looks like this project is coming together well, though.

Great job, guys.

No. From what I heard it's still a prototype (albeit almost finalized) and Ronnie & company where asking for feedback on it. I could be wrong though.

Metha is the one to talk to about it as he has been the one most involved with the project...

i'm not the designer or anything close to that, but i am trying to help them out the best i can. I have never built a frame before, but i do know what i like. and for the most part i know what will sell.
However, gus is correct. this is just a prototype. we are aiming at a spring 09' launch.
Mooj- i am glad you voiced that you are not digging it. and that's what we need but with more detail.
i know it is difficult to critique some thing that you have not seen in person, but any help is welcomed by shadow and the rest of the crew. this goes out to everyone as well. oh and by the way we are working on getting njs approval.
or not.

sorry folks, I was talking about the new blog layout. I guess I do need to elaborate more.

The new design layout has unnecessary fancy font and the photo doesn't show much.

the bike looks great btw, I would buy a different seat. that's all.

its a subrosa...not a shadow conspiracy. more can be seen at vitalbmx.com during the interbike video at the shadow booth

tbm (aka el catfish) said...

um, you do know Subrosa is part of the Shadow Conspiracy umbrella right?

Jalin said...

yeah. so what...you wanna say its by sparkys distro?

Metha said...

hey speaking of the banner, are you guys riding in japan again? the cars are on on the opposite side of the road.

tbm (aka el catfish) said...

yeah we flew out on a red eye last weekend. Funny how the geography looks the same... :)

BTW Metha, you really need to kick yourself in the nuts. Turns out you committed a huge faux pas in saying the bike was a Shadow Conspiracy bike. Or is it Sparkys distro? Either way, how dare you! What matters is the brand, not your impression on what the bike looks and feels like...

Like that would fucking matter....

sorry i'm actually kind of confused on that myself. I as working on the bike with the shadow guys so i thought it was theirs. but i guess it does say subrosa.
man do my balls hurt.
thanks for making it clear.
