A great race for a great cause!

and I got a free hat to boot! Thnx Metha! :)

Congrats to Rapevan, Elocin, Kim and the rest of the crew that put in the time and effort to get this race together. Unfortunately I was not able to race due to a work commitment but I did manage to get down there for the post race footdown games and the awards ceremony. Hugs, Metha, Julius and Kevin did race along with a gang of other intrepid souls, a lot of which where from out of town. The check points for this race where rather unique since the theme was back to school; in addition to hitting the checkpoints there where "tests" in the form of questions that needed to be answered at each checkpoint. Based on your answer, points where then assessed to the racer which where then tallied up at the finish line. From what most people told me these questions where actually pretty tough and in a lot of ways, this leveled the playing field. So how well a racer placed was now not only dependent on how fast they completed the course or how well they knew the city, but also how well they answered the questions. All the race proceeds went to Howard Middle School, which is fitting considering how much we use their basketball court for bike polo and trick riding. There was some pre race polo action @ Howard that started at noon. It was hot as Hades and Tampa ended up sweeping all the games I heard (I was too busy being an isolationist working on tricks or so I was told). Everyone I spoke to had a great time and here's to hoping there's a sequel in the works...

Results (as I remember them):
1st place: Ryan from Deland
2nd place: Metha
3rd place: Sam from St Pete (I thinks)

1st to cross the finish line: Pete Young (who the fuck else do you think it would have been? LOL)

1st place womenz: Lily

Hugs & metha will hopefully post a much more in depth review. Also Mel took some pictures as well so we'll get the photoset up as soon as she posts it. Big up to all the out of town warriors that came out to race and play polo; your energy, enthusiasm and your overall kick ass attitude was totally appreciated!

shit was fun - nice hat to you, sir!

may sound cheesy but i was racing for a friend who got shot in the head when he stopped his car to help someone who looked like they needed help - so in that regard it felt really good to come in right behind pete - and thanks to pete too for motivating me the whole way!

Is that a catfish wearing a mishka hat?

Don't forget the awesome polo that preceded the race. Everyone seems to step it up a notch when they're representing their city. Lily took pics: http://flickr.com/photos/inertialily/

Ryan, it was such a pleasure riding with you. Well deserving of 1st! Sorry to hear about your friend.
