More info on the St Auggie race next weekend.....

Instead of paraphrasing the info, I just quoted the text from the thread on Florida Fixed Forum. The poster is eric danger...

-----------------------------------------> start quote

"Some race updates: In addition to the usual first place and first place out of town we are going to recognize the city with the most top 20 finishers...so represent! We will also be having freestyle, best trick, hottest bike, and other bike games. Also, preliminary confirmed sponsors are 66 fixed, Velocity, Crank Brothers, Bell's Bikes, Casa Maya, and Sprockets Bike Shop. Many more in the works including Aerospoke. Take off work, hitchhike, and get up/down/over here on the 9th!"

"I just rode the route and it is a leg burner but a super fun ride, even alone. 1:07:33 was the time. Got chased by the cops and lost 'em. Good thing the route goes through three jurisdictions."

"So, I'm really stoked on the race route. It is going to allow racers to experience the broad spectrum of St. Augustine, not just the clean historic district that most visitors solely see. St. Aug was actually a hotbed during the civil rights movement in the 60's. Dr. King was arrested here and an incident where a local hotel owner started dumping acid in a pool filled with black demonstrators made the cover of Time magazine. Today we are still feeling the effects of segregation as the west side of the tracks is predominantly a very poor African-American community heavily policed by white cops anxious to use their tazers. The route will take you through some areas few visitors, even few residents, rarely see. And most of the roads have pretty low speed limits so there will be some hardcore mashin'!"

-----------------------------------------> end quote

i figure it to be about 19/20 miles. based on his time and an assumed avg. speed. Granted i no nothing about the guy who did the route hence the assumed rate or speed.

Yeah, that's what I figured it out to be as well, but my calculations leaned towards 25 miles.
