St. Aug was actually a hotbed during the civil rights movement in the 60's. Dr. King was arrested here and an incident where a local hotel owner started dumping acid in a pool filled with black demonstrators made the cover of Time magazine. Today we are still feeling the effects of segregation as the west side of the tracks is predominantly a very poor African-American community heavily policed by white cops anxious to use their tazers. The route will take you through some areas few visitors, even few residents, rarely see. And most of the roads have pretty low speed limits so there will be some hardcore mashin'!"
